Fractional Micro-ablative Photorejuvenation

Deka has invented the SmartXide DOT system that combines "traditional" and "fractional" resurfacing, offering an ultra-versatile treatment that can be tailored to the specific demands of each patient.

In laser surgery, ablative resurfacing with CO2 sources has always been considered the gold standard for treating wrinkles and damage caused by skin photoaging. However, the lengthy healing times and persistent erythema associated with this method mean that it is not suitable for everyone. Over recent years, the market has been focusing increasingly on less invasive systems and methods, designed to meet the patients' desire to be able to continue their work and social activities without interruption. This has stimulated research into new methods and protocols that combine a high degree of efficacy with shorter post-treatment recovery times.

The advent of fractional photothermolysis, initially introduced for non-ablative systems, has enabled the development of a new method that meets these demands perfectly: Fractional Micro-ablative Resurfacing with CO2 laser.

The numerous fractional CO2 systems available on the market all appear to be based on the same principle. However there are significant technical differences (output power, pulse shape, scanning system, dwell-time, distance between scanning points) which inevitably influence the clinical results.
